Hamburg Pro Audio have announced the v2.0 release of MXF Import QT at IBC this week.

Version 2.0 will be shipped free to anyone who purchases the current version now at €399.

We can confirm that version 2.0 provides support for MXF wrapped XDCAM HD and XDCAM EX files from various different sources such as Sony, Omneon and many others.

Additions include:

  • Generic I-Frame Only and Long-GOP MPEG-2 support has been added which allows access to nearly every MPEG-2 variation out there.
  • JPEG 2000 HD, 2k and 4K support for Digital Cinema workflows.
  • Avid Meridien Compressed support including low resolution files such as 2:1s or 10:1m. (Hamburg Pro audio say there will be more enhancements as they have found a way to use an official Apple codec to decode those files. “It needs some more tweaking but it will boost decoding performance and allows correct color space mapping.” This will probably appear in v2.1.)
  • MXF Import CS4 – a direct import plug-in for Adobe CS4 to allow extensive MXF file import in After Effects and Premiere Pro CS4.
