Securing the Mac OS
Backup and Data Protection using CrashPlan PRO
Discussions of Mac OS security often focus primarily on the aspects of defending a network against external intrusions and vulnerabilities. To complement malware protection, the inclusion of a comprehensive backup solution that ensures data integrity and restoration capabilities is an essential component of a healthy and secure Mac OS environment.
The Casper Suite readily integrates with many third party developer solutions including CrashPlan PRO, a product which ensures a continuous backup of all business data to multiple locations – onsite, offsite or in the cloud. We use CrashPlan PRO at JAMF and many of our customers do as well, so it is a perfect product to showcase the remarkable integration that is possible with best of breed applications and The Casper Suite.

Windows Upgrade
According to an article published in CRN magazine, the software giant is to cease support for Windows XP SP2 from 13 July as part of its wider End of Life support policy, meaning users must upgrade to SP3 or Windows 7.
Ian Moulster, Windows product manager at Microsoft, said those who failed to do so will no longer receive security updates or software patches for XP SP2, leaving their systems vulnerable to attack.
“It’s really important that people upgrade to Windows 7 or Sp3 to ensure the operating system they are using is a feature-rich and secure as possible”
